With the outcome of the US Presidential election now in the books, now seemed like a fab time to celebrate with a bottle of the non vintage Flor Prosecco DOC from the Bastianich family.  Renouned author and chef Lida with her son Joe (Masterchef and Eataly fame) have collaborated on bringing some of the region wine tastes of Italy to North American audiences. This example hails from the Valdobbiadene region within the Veneto.

Out of the bottle, this pale yellow hued bubble shows lots of quick bubble. The bouquet is simple with notes of mineral tinged pear and the wine is deliciously fast and nimble on the palate with its light, creamy bubble carried to a slightly syrupy apple mid palate and brief finish. It is there, and it is gone, leaving the palate looking forward to the next sip.  Word to the wise though; drink it fast once poured as the bubbles have little to no persistence at all.

Conclusion: For those seeking a value driven, cheerful bubble, the Flor DOC Prosecco does a good job at delivering. While it lacks the depth and complexity to be taken too seriously, it is a perfect wine to celebrate for the sake of celebrating. I enjoyed it for what it is and would recommend seeking it out as a value bubble candidate for the holidays. Congratulations to Barack Obama on his 2nd term in the Oval Office.
